MOOD
Plain Gallery is pleased to present "MOOD" a group exhibition with works by five young contemporary Italian artists: Daniele Antoniazzi, Chiara Parolin, Simone Rutigliano, Marila Scartozzi and Kristian Sturi.
The exhibition takes its title from Kristian Sturi’s sculpture “In the mood version #219”. Duality remains a fixed point in his research, the reference to that “other” world also manifested here by the contrast of forms that allude to the animal kingdom, specifically the bat and the peculiarity of sleeping upside down.
Daniele Antoniazzi creates bright and vivid landscapes populated by solitary figures. The figure, whatever it is, human or animal, interfaces with external space. Apparently normal situations are polluted by extraneous elements, out of their context, creating allusions that are never perfectly clear.
Chiara Parolin's attention focuses on the psychological aspect of the human figure inserted in a peculiar context, in the action and/or in the relationship that it establishes with what surrounds it.
Rutigliano's pictorial research stems from the imagination alone as well as from a strong reworking of the starting images (drawings, photographs, photomontages) characterized by recurring subjects, mainly groups of human figures, extrapolated from folkloric situations, rituals, dances and popular games, in to which the wild and the authentic dialogue with the symbolic.
Marila Scartozzi's work explores relationships, subjectivity and female sexuality. In her paintings there is an extreme carnality in a dreamlike debordment, together with a tendency to dematerialization of the figure, through "burned" colors that symbolize religious transcendence.
